Cryptic Advice - But Applicable Even Today
"Listen and Learn"
Like most everyone, I have received some rather strange advice through some rather cryptic, but sage advice in my life, and with the passing years, I have passed much of it along to others, including my own children, and even my grandchildren.
Some of that sage advice, and some of the sayings probably came from places I don’t even remember, but it is still appropriate for us living in the so-called modern day society of 2010, the twenty-first century since Christ Jesus walked among man on this planet earth.
1- Don’t put the cart before the horse
2- Let sleeping dogs lie
3- Look before you leap
4- "A birding the hand is worth two in the bush."
5- "You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink."
6- "Still waters run deep (literally and figuratively)."
7- "Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house."
8- "There’s no use crying over spilled milk."
9- "A penny saved is a penny earned."
10-"'If you lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas."
11- "You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear."
12- "Make hay while the sun shines."
13- "Garbage in – Garbage out"
14- "The devil's in the details."
15- "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
And, one I coined goes as follows:
We are what we eat, and what we feed our mind and heart, we speak.
Enough said.
