My Favorite Childhood Movie?

Bambi: The original version. Bear in mind, I was born in 1945...

The original version was released in 1942, when I wasn't even a thought in my parent's heads. It was re-released in 1947, so I was probably about two years old when I saw it.

While this movie was sad when Bambi's mother was killed by a hunter, at least it didn't show the actual shooting. You only heard the rifle-shot.

Even as a small child, I understood that his mother was killed. That was upsetting, maybe partly due to my being such a critter person way back then, too.

The rest of the movie showed Bambi as he learned to survive, with his little forest friends, like Thumper, the little rabbit, and Flower the skunk. It followed Bambi as he learned survival skills and began to grow up, and when he met a young doe. They played and romped together amidst happy music and singing.

Finally, it showed Bambi as an adult buck with his own family taking his place as the most powerful buck in the forest, standing on a huge boulder, overlooking their valley.

  1. So, you have two blogs, huh! Your weather photo blog and this. Both lovely. How ambitious!! LOL! Blogging is addictive, isn't it?

We're of an age and the same feeling. I could never get past Bambi's mom getting killed to really appreciate the message in the rest of the movie.

Have a good one, PK. Please to find your "other" blog. Curious: which do you prefer, WordPress or Blogger? I have one Blogger blog and it frustrates me.

  2. Hi Jamie,
In some ways I prefer Wordpress, but overall, I like Blogger better. It is easier to get more hits, and on WP, I have had trouble getting to the buttons for posting on places such as Buzz, which gives me good results. I actually seem to get more hits from Buzz, than from FB. I have many blogs, and I haven't even counted them all. Some are more or less duplicates, while others are for pet rescue, daily Bible reading, and. I also have a site called http://temeculavalleydining.info, which is still a work in progress.
BTW, if you like chinese, there are also coupons on the site for discounts for the Cafe China Buffet.
